Dele Momodu Warns of One-Man Ballot in 2027, Slams FCT Election Conduct

Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation Magazine and a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is sounding the alarm over what he calls a deliberate attempt by the ruling APC to clear the field for 2027.

Speaking on Arise Television on Thursday, Momodu claimed the APC is working hard to ensure President Bola Tinubu is the "only person on the ballot" for the next general election. While the ruling party currently boasts 31 governors, Momodu insists that these numbers don't scare the opposition, arguing that if an election were held today, the APC would likely be defeated.

"The APC is trying to maneuver," Momodu said during the interview, "but Nigerians are wiser than them. We are not worried or panicking in the ADC."

Momodu also directed sharp criticism toward the recent FCT Area Council elections. He questioned why a "small city like FCT" required a movement restriction—effectively a curfew—and took a swipe at FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Momodu alleged the Minister appeared to be personally supervising polling stations as if he were the Inspector General of Police.

Despite the current political landscape, Momodu remains confident in the ADC’s position. For him, the APC's efforts to consolidate power are a sign of strategy, but he believes the Nigerian electorate is ready to look past the political maneuvering when 2027 finally arrives.
