
The Kwara State Government has assured doctors and other health workers in state hospitals of improved welfare packages to boost healthcare service delivery.
The assurance was given by the Executive Secretary of the State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, during a stakeholders’ meeting at the General Hospital, Offa.
He said the government plans to sponsor medical students annually and recruit more doctors and nurses to address manpower gaps in the health sector.
Dr. Malik also called for community support to strengthen healthcare services in Offa and neighbouring areas.
The Chairman of Offa Local Government, Honorable Suleiman Olatunji Laro, commended the state government’s efforts and pledged continued support, while the Offa Descendants Union appealed for the upgrade of the General Hospital to a teaching hospital.
