Muhammad Kamalud-deen University (MKU), Ilorin, has secured full accreditation for 13 of its academic programmes from the National Universities Commission, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s development.

The Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the university’s Al-Adaby Hall. He explained that the accreditation exercise was a mandatory regulatory requirement for the transition from a provisional status to a full operational licence.

Professor Jimoh noted that the achievement reflects the university’s steady growth, strong quality assurance framework, and commitment to academic excellence since its establishment.

He listed the fully accredited programmes to include Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, English, and Islamic Studies, among others.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the accreditation confirms that the institution meets national standards in key areas such as curriculum quality, staffing, infrastructure, and governance. He added that the development also clears the university for mobilisation of its graduates under the National Youth Service Corps.

Professor Jimoh commended the Emir of Ilorin, the university’s Board of Trustees, and its mentor institution, the University of Ilorin, for their unwavering support towards the institution’s growth.

He further revealed that the university is making plans to introduce postgraduate programmes, strengthen international collaborations, and expand its community engagement initiatives.

The Vice-Chancellor also called on stakeholders, philanthropists, and members of the public to support the university’s continued development and vision for excellence.
