The Director-General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission, Dr. John Asein, has called for stronger workplace collaboration to enhance effective regulatory service delivery across the commission.

Dr. Asein made the call while delivering his address at the opening ceremony of a five-day workshop on Collaboration for Effective Regulatory Service Delivery, organised by the Commission for its operatives at the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, Ilorin.

According to him, the workshop, designed for officers on Grade Levels 13 and 14, is aimed at equipping participants with top management skills as they prepare to transition into higher responsibilities and fill existing gaps within the commission.

He urged participants to identify their individual strengths and weaknesses in order to maximise their potential, stressing that the opportunity provided by the training must not be wasted.

The Director-General also disclosed that the commission is strengthening its regulatory framework against copyright infringement by prosecuting offenders under the renewed Act guiding its operations. He added that efforts are being intensified to protect the intellectual property rights of persons living with disabilities, including equipping them with modern technologies.

In a related development, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, has charged civil servants to remain open to learning as a pathway to strengthening the nation’s civil service.

Dingyadi gave the charge at the same event, noting that continuous learning is essential for professional growth and improved service delivery. He was represented by the Kwara State Controller of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Comrade Orodiran Micheal Bola.

The Minister commended the institute for its sustained commitment to capacity building, labour education, and institutional development.

In his welcome address, the Director-General of the institute, Issa Aremu, represented by the Director of Human Resource Management, Dr. Danjuma Lawal, reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to providing labour education for employees, employers, and government workers to promote effective service delivery.

He also applauded the Commission for the partnership and encouraged participants to actively engage in the training for maximum benefit.
