The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has strengthened its partnership with Al-Hikmah University in a coordinated effort to combat corruption and promote ethical standards across Nigeria's institutional landscape.

The development came as the university's Vice Chancellor, Professor Lateef Oladimeji, led a delegation to the EFCC's Ilorin office on Thursday to meet with Zonal Director Victoria Ugo-Ali.

During the meeting, Professor Oladimeji highlighted the Commission's critical role in Nigeria's anti-corruption framework, noting that its enforcement actions have bolstered accountability in both public and private sectors. He also showcased Al-Hikmah University's impressive growth over two decades—expanding from 70 students to more than 10,000 across multiple academic disciplines—which he attributed to institutional discipline and an uncompromising stance against corrupt practices.

The EFCC Zonal Director, in her response, underscored the importance of collaborative engagement between the Commission and educational institutions in fostering integrity among young people. She expressed serious concern about rising cybercrime involvement among tertiary students, describing it as a troubling trend that requires sustained intervention and mentorship.

Ugo-Ali commended Al-Hikmah University for its exemplary tax compliance and transparent operations, urging the institution to continue championing values of accountability and responsible leadership as it shapes the country's future leaders.
